Recent events of interest in Delaware have been the subject of Governor John Carney's declaration of a state of emergency (and several later updates) to:
  • limit Delaware restaurants, taverns and bars to take-out and delivery service only.
  • close gaming activity at Delaware casinos.
  • allow restaurants, taverns, and bars, to sell a limited amount of alcohol with takeout orders.
  • close operation of all bowling alleys, concert events, movie theaters, sports facilities (not golf courses), fitness centers, and health spas
  • restrict gatherings in nursing homes, or assisted-living and retirement facilities, to no more than 10 people that includes persons of age 60 or over or any person with relevant underlying health conditions
  • prohibit the public from accessing the beach except to exercise or walk their dogs where dogs are permitted -- but you must practice social distancing.
  • Delawareans are now under a stay-at-home order.  "Leaving your home is allowed under Governor Carney’s order for essential activities. Delawareans may leave their homes to get groceries, pick up a prescription, see a doctor, and engage in other activities essential to their health, and the health and wellbeing of their family members, including pets. Delawareans may also engage in outdoor activity, but must adhere to social distancing guidelines."
  • all non-essential businesses are to close as of 8 AM on Tuesday, March 24.
  • Delaware's primary elections have been moved to June 2, and residents may vote by absentee ballot.
  • certain residential legal procedures (e.g., foreclosures, termination of service, charging of late fees or interest) are not permitted.
  • all out-of-state travelers into Delaware are ordered to self-quarantine for 14 days.
  • as of April 1, public gatherings are limited to 10 people through May 15, or until the public health threat has been eliminated. For the purposes of the order, public gatherings include weddings, funerals, and related activities.
More locally here in Baywood, we have:
  • indefinite closure of the Baywood Community Center (the pool house).
  • indefinite closure of the dog park.
  • cancelation of most BHA events until the end of April.
  • Baywood Greens has asked that residents limit personal interactions with Sales Office staff for ordinary community transactions whenever possible.  If you need to file forms for anything (e.g., Community Center reservations), you can find them here on the Forms and Documentation page.  If you otherwise need to meet with a member of the staff, please call ahead and make an appointment.
  • Baywood Greens Golf Course remains open for business, but with several on-course changes and sanitization efforts.  The course is now open only to Delaware residents, as directed by Governor Carney's communication of March 30.  On-course beverage and food services are now (sporadically) available only via counter service at Slicer's half-way house in the practice area (as of Friday, March 27).
  • The Clubhouse at Baywood is closed for the foreseeable future, and no take-out service is available.
