Hurricane Season Begins June 1
Posted on May 23rd, 2019
Remember, hurricane season begins June 1, and NOAA forecasters are predicting that a near-normal Atlantic hurricane season is most likely this year. This outlook forecasts a 40% chance of a near-normal season, a 30% chance of an above-normal season and a 30% chance of a below-normal season.

NOAA predicts a likely range of 9 to 15 named storms (winds of 39 mph or higher), of which 4 to 8 could become hurricanes (winds of 74 mph or higher), including 2 to 4 major hurricanes (category 3, 4 or 5; with winds of 111 mph or higher). NOAA provides these ranges with a 70% confidence. An average hurricane season produces 12 named storms, of which 6 become hurricanes, including 3 major hurricanes.  Read the full NOAA article using this link.

BHA Elections Process Finalizes
Posted on May 9th, 2019
The BHA Nominating Committee has announced its final slate of candidates standing for election to the Board for 2019:
  • Vice President – Mark Petrusic
  • Secretary – Laura Glascoe (This is a one-year term to fill a vacancy)
  • Treasurer – Cindy Talley
  • Phase 1 Representative – George Wiker
  • Phase 3 Representative – Janice Henning
  • At Large Representative – Carol Smith
Because there is only one candidate for each position open for election, the requirement that voting be conducted will be waived.  Instead, the President will call for a vote by the Membership that the slate be accepted as presented.  This vote will take place at the June membership meeting on Saturday, June 8, at 9:00 AM at the Community Center.

You can find complete information about the nominating and elections process on the Elections page of the website.  (You must be logged in to the website as a BHA member in order to access the Elections page.)

Website Privileges Updated
Posted on May 1st, 2019
Access privileges on the website have been updated as of today to match membership dues payments.  Members who did not renew for this year have lost access to pages listed in the Members section of the navigation area on the left side of each page (this includes the Documents page, the Message Board, the Resident Directory, and the Photo Album).

You can check whether you have paid your 2019 BHA dues by going to your Profile page and clicking on the link "Update Profile."  Scroll down past your Lot Number and Phase number.  If one of the next two lines reads "Member Until -- 2020-04-25," then you are paid for 2019 (if you do not see this line, your dues have not been recorded for this year).

Please direct inquiries about your membership status to Jacki Maxwell, BHA Membership Chair.
