Baywood Wildlife Management
Posted on Nov 22nd, 2020
The following is an email from Baywood Greens sent on Sunday, November 22nd, 2020
Dear Baywood Residents,
We have received a few inquiries regarding hunting activities in certain areas within Baywood. These areas are known as future Phases 8 and 9, and are accessed by our staff from unpaved maintenance roads. (Click on Read More below to see map)
Baywood has always allowed select persons, usually staff, to hunt on the undeveloped portions of the Baywood property. It is not something we publicize, and is tightly controlled. All hunters are trained in safety, and are licensed by the State of Delaware.
This is simply a normal part of Sussex County culture, and is considered to be proper wildlife management. It is necessary to control the deer populations that would otherwise create conditions of overcrowding. The program is also necessary to reduce damage to Baywood’s golf course and community horticulture displays.
We are notifying Baywood residents to not enter the wooded sections of Baywood’s undeveloped areas. These areas are not actively maintained or patrolled for use by residents, and are not intended to be recreational areas of Baywood.
Thank you for your understanding & cooperation!
Holiday Food Drive
Posted on Nov 10th, 2020
The Baywood Homeowners Association (BHA) has a wonderful tradition of supporting worthy causes during the holiday season with donations from our community members. This year, many in our local community are experiencing job loss due to the pandemic and are still not working. Additionally, there is a tremendous need for food and supplies for babies. We would like to directly support two charities this year; the Cape Henlopen Food Bank and the Community Resource Center (which hosts the Harry K Baby Pantry.) Our own Ruth Pryor is involved with both of these worthy causes. These charities are two smaller, local organizations that will appreciate our help, especially this holiday season.
Debbie Reilly and Susan Cummings will be coordinating our Holiday Drive this year, with assistance from Ruth Pryor. We have two lists below from which we ask you to choose your donations. Please drop off your donations at Debbie Reilly’s house at 32343 Apron Way by Tuesday, December 8, 2020. Pick-ups can also be arranged by calling Debbie Reilly at 443.223.7928.
We ask that you do not deviate from the list of needed items for the charities. We will sort the donations to be sure they go to the correct charity. For list or needs, click Read More below.Read More >>
Baywood Community Center Library
Posted on Nov 6th, 2020
Due to the generosity of the Baywood Community, we are reaching maximum capacity at our small library at the Community Center. In order to keep our library accessible and looking neat, we are asking the community to no longer drop off any games or non-fiction books at the library. Non-fiction books include the categories of: Cookbooks, Biographies, Self-Help, Historical, Political, Memoirs and Travel books.
We will still accept both hardcover and paperback books of fiction and jigsaw puzzles.
Thanks for your cooperation in helping us keep our Community Center a pleasant and useable space for our residents.
